The international standard SA (Social Accountability) 8000 was issued by the American organization SAI (Social Accountability International) and is applicable internationally across any industry.
The standard contains requirements for “socially responsible” behavior in various areas: from child labor to health and safety prevention for workers; from freedom of association and collective bargaining to discrimination; from disciplinary procedures to working hours and wages.
This management system aims to value and protect workers, promoting ethical and fair treatment throughout the entire production chain.
Grassi has obtained this certification for its Italian headquarters in Lonate Pozzolo and for its branches in Albania and Romania.
Why this certification is important
A certified management system allows us to:
- demonstrate our respect for human rights and the importance we place on the working conditions of our employees;
- prioritize employee well-being and ensure a safe and fair working environment;
- improve the company climate, protecting and involving workers in achieving objectives;
- ensure that our suppliers respect high ethical standards, strengthening the entire supply chain;
- increase the trust of our customers, who are increasingly looking for socially responsible companies.
To ensure compliance with ethical principles and transparency, the SA8000 standard provides the possibility of submitting reports related to ethical matters or events occurring in the workplace or related to it and in contrast with the principles of social responsibility of the standard.
